Lafarge Ecosystems
In 1977, Lafarge created subsidiary Lafarge Ecosystems to operate Haller Wildlife Park in Kenya, a rehabilitated quarry. This private game sanctuary attracted more than 160,000 visitors in 2005 and has receipts of approximately $1 million a year. Lafarge Ecosystems now utilizes its restoration experience by providing consulting services to businesses around the world seeking to enhance ecosystems on their property.
